The will to change and a better life will follow

I thought I would share with you something that you wouldn't know about me. And something that looking back now I am very proud of.
Growing up I was always unhappy with my weight. I was never so called small but not too large either as I played high level Netball.
When I met my now husband at 16 my weight from then on slowly increased (yes i blame you Adam!!). I always tried different so called diets but never managed to shift weight and was always told i was doing something not right with the food.
I think I was 20 when I had had enough... i had heard of a program called sureslim which is all about the food your prepare and they guide you through an eating plan.
It was obviously extremely tough to start with but I then became completely obsessed with it and was losing weight weekly.
Over the next 8 mths I stuck at it hard and lost a whopping 30kgs....
All this just in time for my 21st Birthday and then my engagement to Adam.
I exercised alot during the 8mths but my advice to anyone wanting to shift a few kilos.... it is all what you put in your mouth.
Yes exercise is important and even a daily walk etc is worth it but the food is the main thing... Change that and you are on the way to success...
I am proud of how committed I was and it has well and truly helped me to be the person I am today. Being ashamed of how you look defiantly holds you back and making the change has made me a happier and healthier person.
Here are a few photos of the before and after....
And this has now motivated me to lose a few of the kilos I don't want now... Who is with me???... lets say goodbye to them for summer :)

An unhappy 20 year old

Getting ready for my 21st just before Adam proposed!

My 21st one of the best nights as i got engaged and i was so happy to have achieved my goal

Decided I needed a change after the achievement so the hair got cut... it has slowly got shorter and shorter!

  1. Wow, that is so very inspiring!
Do you have any tips on what particular changes you made to your diet and what you found was the most effective thing to cut out or reduce consumption of?

    1. Hi Ronnie, thanks so much for stopping by. I LOVE Jodis blog! I just checked out yours too and oh my lovely... And 3 kids under 3! I had three kids in 3 1/2yrs and thought that was hard enough so go you and another boy to follow... Congrats!!
I did u program that involved very low carbs, high protein, and small portions.. So really I was not eating a huge amount but you do adjust pretty quickly. The size of meals goes on you weight so it is meant to be what suits your size. I was very strict though and never ate anything I wasn't allowed.

    2. If I was to do it again no though my advice would be the same foods etc but just not so strict. I got pretty obsessed with it and it messed with me a bit. Slower is good with portion control and lower carbs. And a big one was no processed foods.. Fruit as snacks!!
Funny writing that a I should take some of my own advice now to drop a couple of kilos!!
      Thanks again for stopped by...
